ABOUT RICHARD BERMANRichard founded VerbFactory in 2003 after serving as director of corporate communications at TCSI, a publicly traded telecom software firm that became the agency's first client. He has held management positions at top public relations agencies in New York and San Francisco, and was communications director for a major non-profit organization in Toronto. In 1996 Richard was a founding member of Ruder Finn's interactive group, where he won the first of his two CIPRA awards for excellence in public relations. Prior to switching to the dark side, he was a magazine and newspaper reporter and a published poet (he no longer owns a beret, much to the relief of his wife.) Richard has contributed to several books on human rights, worked on nuclear disarmament issues under the auspices of the UN, and lectured at universities including McGill, Harvard, Queens and York. When not developing killer programs for VerbFactory clients he plays upright bass in seedy bars and struggles mightily to finish his first novel, which should be ready in time for the next ice age. Richard earned his BA at the University of Toronto and has studied writing and journalism through the University of Wisconsin, the Johns Hopkins University and Ryerson University in Toronto. |
